Wednesday is Odin’s day or what I want Wednesday: The Liar’s Key (The Red Queen’s War #2) by Mark Lawrence

Well I wanted to try something new this week and try some weekly post. First off I will be doing Wednesday is Odin’s day or what I want Wednesday (WIWW). I will spotlight some new release books that are coming out that I really want.

For this first post I will go with my favorite author Mark Lawrence. His new book The Liar’s Key is coming out very soon. I am very excited to say the least. This is the second book in The Red Queen’s War trilogy. The first book Prince of Fools was a fantastic book. One of my top books of 2014 to be sure! I love Mr. Lawrence’s writing and am also a big fan of his online presence. He always seems willing to interact with his fans and makes himself easily accessible. To say that this book is my top book for WIWW is an understatement. This is my most anticipated book of the year! So go and do like I did and pre-order this book NOW!

About the book:

The Red Queen has set her players on the board…
Winter is keeping Prince Jalan Kendeth far from the longed-for luxuries of his southern palace. And although the North may be home to his companion, the warrior Snorri ver Snagason, he is just as eager to leave. For the Viking is ready to challenge all of Hell to bring his wife and children back into the living world. He has Loki’s key – now all he needs is to find the door.
As all wait for the ice to unlock its jaws, the Dead King plots to claim what was so nearly his – the key to the underworld — so that his dead subjects can rise and rule.

And some more:

Prince of Fools, The Red Queen’s War: Book One had all “the hallmarks of [Mark Lawrence’s] storytelling and writing style which made The Broken Empire trilogy such an incredibly addictive read” ( Now, The Liar’s Key continues the story of the unusual fellowship between a rogue prince and a weary warrior…
After harrowing adventure and near-death, Prince Jalan Kendeth and the Viking Snorri ver Snagason find themselves in possession of Loki’s Key, an artefact capable of opening any door, and sought by the most dangerous beings in the Broken Empire—including The Dead King.
Jal wants only to return home to his wine, women, and song, but Snorri has his own purpose for the key: to find the very door into death, throw it wide, and bring his family back into the land of the living.
And as Snorri prepares for his quest to find death’s door, Jal’s grandmother, the Red Queen continues to manipulate kings and pawns towards an endgame of her own design…

About the author:

His day job is as a research scientist focused on various rather intractable problems in the field of artificial intelligence. He has held secret level clearance with both US and UK governments. At one point he was qualified to say ‘this isn’t rocket science … oh wait, it actually is’.
Between work and caring for his disabled child, Mark spends his time writing, playing computer games, tending an allotment, brewing beer, and avoiding DIY.
