My review today is for The Dinosaur Lords by
A copy of this book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own.
I was so excited for this book. Once I heard about it I was counting down until it was released. I mean knights riding dinosaurs, could anything be more awesome! Well unfortunately I think I over hyped this in my mind. The book seemed a bit of a disappointment. It was a good book and I enjoyed it very much. I think my over enthusiasm and my own over hype just got the better of me and created impossible expectations.
The book was full of political intrigue, amazing characters, and yes dinosaur knights. The world created was a fantastic blend of rich cultures in a wondrous setting. Even so I was left wanting more. More of what, is what becomes confusing. I can’t quite place what was missing for me or what could be added to be what my expectations wanted. I loved Karyl and Rob, they were dynamic together and there should have been more of them. There could have been less of princess Melodía and her story line. The same can be said for Jaume’s story line. Not that they were bad but they were much less interesting than Karyl and Rob. Then there is the Dinosaurs, or the lack of them. Don’t get me wrong they are there but they always seem to be in the back round or just out of touch. I feel like I am being to negative and I don’t want to come off that way. I really liked this book and I am very excited for the next book ( The Dinosaur Knights ) and to see where it takes this amazing tale. I really feel this series is heading in a great direction and even better things are to come.
Bottom line, Do you like dinosaurs? Do you like knights? How about some GoT style betrayal and intrigue? Well yeah of coarse you do and so did I. Now go read this book!
As you know if you have read my reviews before I am not about long reviews with synopsis and spoilers. I just give my opinion on my experience with this book and you can take it from there. Now on to the next book.
This book is out NOW! So go grab a copy!

“It’s like a cross between Jurassic Park and Game of Thrones.” –George R. R. Martin
A world made by the Eight Creators on which to play out their games of passion and power, Paradise is a sprawling, diverse, often brutal place. Men and women live on Paradise as do dogs, cats, ferrets, goats, and horses. But dinosaurs predominate: wildlife, monsters, beasts of burden-and of war. Colossal plant-eaters like Brachiosaurus; terrifying meat-eaters like Allosaurus, and the most feared of all, Tyrannosaurus rex. Giant lizards swim warm seas. Birds (some with teeth) share the sky with flying reptiles that range in size from bat-sized insectivores to majestic and deadly Dragons.
Thus we are plunged into Victor Milán’s splendidly weird world of The Dinosaur Lords, a place that for all purposes mirrors 14th century Europe with its dynastic rivalries, religious wars, and byzantine politics…except the weapons of choice are dinosaurs. Where vast armies of dinosaur-mounted knights engage in battle. During the course of one of these epic battles, the enigmatic mercenary Dinosaur Lord Karyl Bogomirsky is defeated through betrayal and left for dead. He wakes, naked, wounded, partially amnesiac-and hunted. And embarks upon a journey that will shake his world.

About the author:
I’ve been a professional writer my whole adult life, and an obsessed reader since long before. I’ve also done time as a cowboy, semi-pro actor, computer support tech, and Albuquerque’s most popular all-night progressive rock DJ.
I’ve published almost 100 novels and numerous short stories, including the Prometheus Award-winning THE CYBERNETIC SAMURAI. I’m a founding member of the long-running Wild Cards shared-world project, with a story in the newest anthology, FORT FREAK. At the moment I also write novels for the Deathlands series.
I just sold an epic fantasy trilogy called The Ballad of Karyl’s Last Ride to Tor. Look for the first volume, THE DINOSAUR LORDS, July 28th, 2015.
I live on Jupiter with two cats, TJ and Squeak, and a burly dog named Emma who’s subservient to them. I serve as Masquerade MC for Life for the excellent St, Louis science fiction convention Archon, as well as, apparently, for our fine local con, Bubonicon. I love reading, birding, games, recumbent cycling, firearms, hanging with friends, and walking the aforementioned Emma Dog in Albuquerque’s scenic North Valley.
