Week in Review: 4/1/17 – And a rant.

So I have been in a huge blogging and reading slump. I am just plain burned out. I took a little break from the blog and social media this week. I am sure no one really noticed, which brings me to my point. I realized I was forcing myself to read and blog for that matter on others schedule, for others. But no more. This is my blog and I am going to blog when, how, and what I want. I need to be able to do this and enjoy myself, its a lot of work with no reward really. So I should at least enjoy it right? So I am going back to what started me on this blog journey, my enjoyment of Fantasy books and related things. So I will read and blog when I want, about what I want. No more feeling obligated to others. Will I still help authors out with post? Absolutely, but no more pressure to read and review the latest and greatest. I am going to stop worrying about how many people viewed my blog and why my hard work doesn’t seem to payoff and just enjoy sharing what I like and hope others like it as well.

So welcome to the new MightyThorJRS, what I want, When I want, how I want. Yes all about me! I will be much happier and I Hope everyone will still enjoy!

  1. A fine plan, James! Worrying about stats and who’s reading your blog are two of the more worrisome things about blogging, so conquering them and getting back to enjoying blogging is a good thing. I’m right there with you!

  2. Any post title with rant in it is always a must read, I do like a good rant!😂

I know from your comment on my post earlier this week that you’ve been feeling burnt out with blogging, it sucks to feel that way, definitely agree with everything you wrote, it’s valid for all of us and something we all need to remember at times, our blog is ours and as such we should post what we want, when we want, as you say it’s a lot of hard work with no real reward and we should at least enjoy it.

Best not to bother about stats and views, hard not to at times when you’re down with blogging, but they really aren’t important.

I hope you manage to get back to enjoying blogging.😀

  3. That’s the way to go. That’s what I do and it makes blogging less stressful. If I do get stressed, it’s stress I place on myself to get something done.
Hope the new process works for you.

  4. This blogging thing is a hard gig. I have two and I continuously wonder WTF I’m doing it for. Turns out, for me. The fact I have a few loyal followers, garner a few comments, and occasionally touch someone is — no lie — super cool. But I’ve had to make the same decision a couple of times. Cause whoever learns the first time around, right? It’s your blog. Do it your way and damn the stress.

  5. Wise choice indeed! Real life is what requires us to do things because we HAVE TO, and there’s no escaping that – bills must be paid, chores must be completed, and so son – but when it comes to the little spaces we carve out for ourselves (and with such difficulty!!!) the mere idea of *work* or obligation must be banished. Here’s to your new resolution, to many good books and plenty of fun!
